Director General, Norwegian Petroleum Directorate
Bente Nyland has a master’s degree in geology from the University of Oslo. She began her career as an exploration geologist at Statoil, where she worked for five years, and joined the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate in 1989 as a senior geologist. Ms. Nyland was appointed to her first management position in 1994, became a member of the management team in 2000 and was appointed director general of the directorate in 2007.
Ms. Nyland has served on a number of boards, including those of the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, the Norwegian Institute for Energy Technology, the University Fund for Rogaland and the University of Stavanger.
