Project Director, Bay du Nord, Equinor Canada
Halfdan Knudsen was appointed project director for Bay du Nord in January 2019. In this capacity, he is responsible for the company’s Bay du Nord and Flemish Pass related activities.
Halfdan has over 30 years of leadership experience within the energy sector. He draws from a diverse skillset awarded to him through his diligent work in technology, operation and project development, in addition to an extensive educational background in mechanical engineering.
In 2010, Halfdan took the role of VP project manager and control for development production in Norway, responsible for a portfolio of 12 subsea tie-back projects, a position which he held until 2014 when he assumed the role of deputy project manager for JV Tanzania LNG Project in the United Kingdom.
In 2016, Halfdan became project director and asset manager for the Block 2 Tanzania LNG Project before traveling to St. John’s to assume his role as project director for Bay du Nord.
Halfdan holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology, a master’s degree from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with a minor in economics from the Norwegian Institute of Technology.
