Mike Maguire is a professional engineer whose career spans three decades in offshore energy and ocean industries. In his current role, Mike supports initiatives to prepare the industry for effective transition toward pending new performance-based regulations and to improve Atlantic Canada’s oil & gas industry competitiveness. Mike previously held leadership roles in Newfoundland and Labrador, and internationally, in safety and certification of large capital offshore oil & gas developments and has led strategic R&D and innovation initiatives to enable and advance sustainable oil & gas business operations and growth.
Mike is a graduate of Memorial University’s naval architecture and ocean engineering program and maintains professional qualifications in Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe. He is a long-serving member of the Canadian Standards Association ISO Mirror Committee on design, construction and installation of offshore structures and is Canada’s working group lead for floating offshore structures.
Mike’s volunteer roles include serving as chair of the boards of directors for OceansAdvance (NL’s ocean technology cluster) and Springboard Atlantic (commercialization and industry liaison network of 19 Atlantic Canada universities and colleges) and as a member of the Lloyd’s Register Offshore Technical Committee.
